Q&A: Mark Andrada and Julie Dumais

Improv comedy meets modern technology in The Live Improvised Cartoon, a weekend-long series of shows at the Comedy Bar.

[rssbreak]

It’s a collaboration between 10,000 to Flight (Mark Andrada and Julie Dumais) and Rene Dellefont, who’ll be creating flash animation live with his computer at the foot of the stage. Andrada, Dumais and some of the top improv artists in town contribute voices from offstage for a show that’ll likely be too blue for the Teletoons Network. See Comedy Listings.

Your troupe’s name is 10,000 to Flight. Which means…?

Evangelist Peter Popoff gave us our name. Seriously. It’s a quote from the Bible. Deuteronomy 32.

Speaking of flights, what’s next for Zoom Airlines?

Andrada: Well, they’re flying Rene Dellefont, the creator of the improv cartoon, to Toronto this week.

Dumais: Um, they just went bankrupt.

Andrada: Shit… I have to make a phone call.

The show seems pretty dependent on technology. What if there’s a blackout?

Obviously, we go looting.

If you could be a cartoon, who or what would you be?

Veggie Tales, for sure. Or, the Baby from “Dinosaurs” – that was a cartoon, right?

Who’s cuter: Nemo, WALL*E or Mumble from Happy Feet?

Beaker, from the Muppets.

If Nemo and WALL*E got into a fight, what would happen?

Dana White would probably make a mint.

The Film Festival’s going on during your shows. Who do you expect to show up?

Jamie Kennedy (both the comedian and the chef), Harvey Keitel, Jeff Bridges and the entire cast of Sha Na Na.

Mark, do you ever get mistaken for actor and Mac spokesguy Justin Long?

How else would I get laid?

What will we find out this week about Sarah Palin?

She fooled around with women in college.
