Steve Huison on This Morning: Chopped Locks for Charity, Leaving the Street

Steve Huison, who plays the Street’s curly haired ex jailbird Eddie Windass, has appeared on This Morning earlier today talking about why he has had his hair cut off (live on This Morning) and why the Windass father and husband is leaving Corrie in a weeks time.

The hair was chopped live and revealed less than half an hour ago. The reasons for this drastic hair cut was to get rid of Eddie well and truly along with opening new doors to different kinds of characters and starting a blank slate. However the main reason is to raise money for Soteria Network (a charity which deals with mental illness; a charity close to Steve’s heart) by fashioning the chopped off curls into doll hair and selling the dolls on Ebay (the idea coming from a twitter fan). Other things being sold on Ebay are his red tshirt and signed portraits.

From the past few episodes, we have seen Eddie and Anna grow further apart over new adopted child Faye, who is proving to be a misbehaving and troublesome girl. Anna is pro Faye despite her tom foolery and wants Eddie to let her settle, however Eddie is having none of it. Is this why Eddie is waving goodbye?

More than likely is the answer.

Steve described the family as ‘falling apart’ and based on quick decisions, which he makes Anna make. So it is looking like she has picked their rebellious adopted child over their relationship.

Steve portays Eddie as a rough character who neighbours wouldn’t want to live next to; who developed into a loveable rogue. In the two and a half years he has been on the street he has been involved in ‘meaty stories’ such as the adoption and Gary’s post traumatic stress after going to Afghanistan when he was in the army.
