My interests and expertise include: urban ecology and citizen science (most recent), ecology of the tropical rainforest, ecology of desert environments, nature conservation, botanical baselines for environmental impact assessments, plant conservation and plant red lists, herbarium curation and herbarium databases, flora of the sultanate of Oman, tropical agricultural systems.

After 30 years outside of Europe (1984-2014), I am based in the Netherlands and working on the monitoring and management of biodiversity in urban and peri-urban areas, in particular on the monitoring of vegetation quality along waterways through Citizen Science.
