What can't be said about Kinya. from the 5 start service to the 5 star food quality Kinya does not disappoint. The ramen for our area is amazing, the pork buns (bao) are on par with any Chinatown in the US. It's not too pricey and the staff are super personable and make for an awesome experience. If you're looking for a nice lunch or dinner spot check out Kinya in Wilkes-Barre.

The food, presentation and service was on point. I went for lunch and therefore was able to experience a quiet lunch to savor each experience with my heart and tongue.
The best Takoyaki that I've had to date.
I definitely recommend this place. It was my first time going to this local Ramen restaurant. I am writing this review as I am preparing for a returned trip.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

The first time I went was for Valentine's Day because they was having a 2 for 1 sale and I thought why not try it out, the chicken was good but the noodles were not that good the ramen just smelled and tasted like dish water. It had a funny smell and taste to it not to my liking at all I even asked the person I went with how was it and they said the same.
A year later I gave it a second try for my best friends birthday and the taste was awful again, I would not be returning I had good ramen and this was not itHelpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Kinya has become our go to local sushi spot!
When you arrive friendly faces greet us and make us feel warm and welcome. I love that it seems like people know each other here and I feel like I can relax and leave my stress at the door.
The food is delicious. I ordered the bbq shrimp and when they arrived I remember feeling a little disappointed because they looked different from what I expected. How wrong I was!!!! The flavor is SPECTACULAR.
The sushi tacos were a fun experience and our waitress warned us to have a good sense of humor when eating them. They even have a roll with gold leaf on them!
The restaurant is comfortable and in the past we have had the ramen which is a large portion and so delicious.
Can't wait to return!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 1Business owner information

We're delighted that you enjoyed the BBQ shrimp, even though they may have looked different from your expectations. We strive to deliver not only delicious food but also surprising and memorable flavors, and we're thrilled that we hit the mark with you.
The sushi tacos and our unique rolls, like the one with gold leaf, are definitely designed to add a fun and adventurous twist to your dining experience. We're glad you enjoyed them!
We're also pleased to hear that you've enjoyed our ramen in the past. It's one of our favorites too!
Thank you for your kind words, and we can't wait to welcome you back for another fantastic meal. See you soon!Jul 23, 2023Previous reviewThe sushi was good and I like that the rolls were not made huge with large amounts of rice. The fish seemed fresh and the flavors were good. We ordered takeout and the front desk service was great.

My fiance and I drove over a half hour to dine at Kinya. We've stumbled upon it once and enjoyed our experience and had to try it again. The overall ambiance of the restaurant was great. Very friendly and accommodating staff, unique and fun decor, and quality meals. We received complementary kimchi, it was nice and refreshing. We both ordered the spicy ramen but I was able to substitute tofu as my protein but a little annoyed I was charged extra for it. The ratio of noodles, veggies, and broth were great. The broth was less spicy than I expected but we got chili oil on the side that solved that issue.

Thank you for making the journey to dine with us at Kinya again! We're so thrilled that you enjoyed your experience and felt our restaurant's ambiance hit the spot. It's fantastic to hear that our staff made you feel welcome and that you liked our quirky decor—it's all part of the Kinya charm!
We're delighted that you enjoyed the complementary kimchi; it's a little touch we love to provide to kickstart your meal with a burst of flavor. And we're glad you gave our spicy ramen a try! We totally get where you're coming from with the tofu substitution charge, though. While it's our current policy, we appreciate you sharing your thoughts on it.
It's awesome to hear that you found the balance of noodles, veggies, and broth just right. And hey, we're all about personalizing your spice level, so we're glad the chili oil did the trick!
Thanks again for your support and for sharing your experience. We can't wait to have you back at Kinya soon! If there's anything else you need or any other dishes you're itching to try, just give us a shout. - Jan 11, 2024

This review is for delivery. Sometimes I'm hesitant to review a place when not eating at their restaurant because the food is not as fresh and warm when you get it delivered. I was pleasantly surprised at how they pack the ramen for delivery. I enjoyed their ramen and found it to be less greasy than some other ramen places in the area. Their pork bao was also very good. I also got the gyoza, edamame, and shrimp tempura roll and found everything to be tasty. I like their $25 ramen and appetizer deal. I'd like to eat in next time.

I consider myself a regular at this place. I love love love the spicy ramen! i've always gotten it with chicken but since they added beef the menu it's taken the spicy ramen to a whole new level. the servers are all very nice. and the whole ambiance is a vibe! the only dissapoinying thing i could say about them is the last few times i went they didn't have beef i guess its just that good! 10/10 i highly reccomend eating here. (p.s try the volcano roll its soo good !)

This month, I finally had opportunities to try out the food at Kinya, which is located in the Essex Green Plaza (next to Total Wine and Hook & Reel). I've gone a couple of times and everything was great each time - from the food, service, to overall experience.
I know there are eateries in adjacent Montclair where you can get ramen, but I like that there is a ramen spot in town where you don't deal with longer wait times for a table and service is pretty fast. Tasheen and Michael were two Kinya servers who I remember were great to us, and just cool.
- So far, of the ramens here, I've tried Tan Tan, Miso, Tonkotsu, and Chintan with chicken. All were good. The Kinya Ramen is next on my list to try.
- The sushi rolls are also good; I've just had the standard ones on the menu, not yet the special rolls.
- For starters/appetizers, I've had pork buns and spring rolls. My favorite thing to start with though is yakitori, which Kinya recently started offering on their menu. If you are dining with vegetarians, the yakitori is a great option for starters - shishito pepper skewers and the mushroom skewers were favorites. The sauce used for yakitori is very tasty and flavorful here, very good!
Lastly, I like the feel of being inside Kinya - it's a combination of the people working there and how they make you feel welcome, and the interior of the restaurant. I remember the business that was in that space beforehand (it was a normal buffet). Kinya really transformed the inside with its decor and seating layout - the placement of the bar, booths towards the back of the space, and the tables up front. The music and lighting also adds to the vibe, which works for couples, after work crowd, families, a variety of diners, etc.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 2Business owner information
