Abstract
This continental zonobiome VII extends in Eurasia from the mouth of the Danube through E Europe and Asia almost to the Yellow Sea. In N America, it occupies the entire Midwest from S Canada to the gulf of Mexico. The degree of aridity varies in the different parts. Therefore large sub-zonobiomes can be distinguished, mainly steppes or prairies, semi-deserts and deserts, either with winter rains or with summer rains and additionally the high plateau deserts (Tibet and Pamir) with long cold winter months. In the southern hemisphere ZB VII is only represented in South America with only a relatively small area in the Argentine pampa and the Patagonian semi-desert.
