Abstract
Pecteilis is a small genus of terrestrial, or rarely lithophytic, orchids related to Habenaria but differing from the latter in the structure of the column. The name of the genus is derived from Greek pectein (to comb), which refers to the comb-shaped lateral lobes of the lip, an outstanding feature of the flowers. The ten species of Pecteilis are distributed in China, Japan, India and Southeast Asia.
