Notes

  1. It is not clear to me whether this is a locality or a vernacular name

  2. Referring to ‘bossen buitengewesten’, i.e. collections made outside Java by the Forest Research Institute, Buitenzorg (= Bogor), see: http://www.nationaalherbarium.nl/FMCollectors/F/ForResInstBuit.htm#collections

  3. The gazetteer at our disposal has two ‘Lanipa’ entries for Sulawesi; one is on the modern Nelles’ map, south of Palopo; the coordinates for the other (3°08'S 121°04'E) place it S of Malili on the south-eastern arm, more likely to be in the ‘Kolaka sub-division’ and in the general area collected by Waturandang (van Steenis-Kruseman 1950: 176)

  4. the label reads P. Katik & ‘F. Steven’, a misprint for P.F. Stevens

  5. In Coode 1978: 171 I reported Schodde 2911 to have 5 – 9 divisions, but the Kew material has none of 5 and only one of 6, the rest being 7 – 9

  6. The label says Western District but this must be a mistake for Central District
