Daphne x burkwoodii

This superb plant, which is rarely grown nowadays, is a hybrid between the evergreen D, cneorum and the deciduous D. caucasica. It flowers in the Lambley gardens during early to mid-spring when each shoot produces golf ball size heads of pink budded sweetly fragrant blush flowers. Happy in any sunny or lightly shaded spot where it gets some supplementary watering during dry spells. It will make a rounded shrub some 1 metre tall by as much across.
