Summary
Eutrema species are perennial herbs. Rootstocks rhizomatous. Trichomes simple or absent. Stem erect or decument, leafy, simple or usually branched above, glabrous or rarely pubescent. Basal leaves simple, in rosulate or not, lanceolate to obovate, base cuneate to attenuate, margin entire, palmately veined to lobed, apex acute to obtuse, petiolate, cauline leaves, base cuneate to auriculate, margins entire or shallow pinnatifid, petiole short to sessile. Inflorescence racemes, few to many flowered, elongated or not in fruit, ebracteate. Flowers bisexual, white, pink, actinomorphic, pedicel erect, slender, ascending, reflex or divaricate, sepals 4, subequal, erect, oblong-ovate, lateral pair base not saccate, apex obtuse, petals 4, spathulate to obovate, base cuneate, margin entire, apex obtuse, claw absent. Stamens 6, slightly tetradynamous, filaments dilated at the base, anthers oblong, nectar glands 4, confluent and subtending bases of stamens, median glands present. Ovary superior, linear, ellipsoid-cylindrical, sessile, bicarpellary, syncarpous, pubescent, ovules 2-12. Fruit siliqua or silicles, dehiscent, linear-lanceolate to ellipsoid to ovoid-linear, compressed, terete, quadrangular, latiseptate, valves smooth or rough, veins obscure or distinct, replum round, septum complete, style obsolete, stigma capitate, entire. Seeds uniseriate, compressed or not, brown, oblong-ovoid, not winged, minutely reticulate, not mucilaginous when soaked, cotyledons incumbent.

Basal leaves simple, in rosulate, ovate-cordate about 4-12 x 3-7 mm across, base obtuse or cordate, margin entire or shallow crenate, apex subacute to obtuse, fleshy thick, petiole about 5-15 mm long, cauline leaves, ovate-cordate, base cordate, margins entire or rarely subentire, apex acute to obtuse, petiolate. Inflorescence raceme corymbs, 3 to 12 flowered, lax, elongated in fruit, ebracteate. Flowers bisexual, light blue or purple, pedicel erect, slender, ascending, reflex or divaricate, about 5-12 mm long, sepals 4, subequal, erect, caducous, ovate, lateral pair base not saccate, apex obtuse, about 1.5 mm long, petals 4, spathulate-obovate, base cuneate, margin entire, apex obtuse, about 3.5-5 x 2.5 mm across, claw absent. Stamens 6, slightly tetradynamous, filaments slightly dilated at the base, anthers oblong, nectar glands 4, confluent and subtending bases of stamens, median glands present. Ovary superior, linear, ellipsoid-cylindrical, sessile, bicarpellary, syncarpous, pubescent.
