About Philodendron Scandens
One of the most common houseplants, the heartleaf Philodendron, gets its name from the Greek words meaning tree-loving. These vining plants can be found climbing trees all across their native range of South America and the Caribbean and in the homes of plant lovers worldwide. 🌳
Philodendrons grow aerial roots that grip the bark of trees, allowing them to grow over 20 feet tall! Their heart-shaped leaves change shape as they climb and can grow larger than a dinner plate. Fossils show Philodendrons growing as far back as 30 million years ago when South America was still connected to Antarctica! ❄️

How to fertilize Philodendron Scandens
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Philodendron Scandens after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Length and fullness I’ve had him since October. And he is growing. But I thought he would be a little fuller than he is. Is there anything I’m doing wrong? I changed his soil at 5 months and water him in accordance with when the app tells me. He’s in the window so gets sunlight daily.

HELP!! No matter what I do with watering, my heartleaf philodendron doesn’t like it. I had taken her out of her pot about a month ago to check her roots and inspect for root rot, but the soil was moist and the roots were perfectly healthy. I wait about one month to water because the soil takes a bit to dry. She is right in front of a south window so maybe too much sun? Or do I use a mix with A LOT more perlite? Also the new leaves growing are super tiny and just wondering what to do to help my plant!!

How do I make my heartleaf grow longer? The shorter vine is the one I started with, the longer one is a cutting from the first. How do I get my first little guy to grow down longer so I can get more cuttings from it in the future? It’s been the same length for a while now but it is growing from the top and getting bushy very well. Any help is appreciated 🙂

My plants keep dying Hello, I’ve had these plants since 2017 ever since I moved to DE and they go through the season just fine but I haven’t been able to save them and they’re dying on me, I’ve tried repotting them twice, they haven’t change pots since I’ve got them, any suggestions on how to bring them back? Or should I just give up and trie again?

My plant has not been doing too good :( I keep it kind of far from sunlight and I’m wondering if that’s why the leaves are gone #Philodendron

This plant was bought as a wedding present and my husband (he has been told off) put it in the car boot for a week and we’ve had minus temperatures. There are a couple of healthy leaves, but the others are completely floppy, a little translucent, and show no sign of picking up. I have no idea how best to proceed and save this little plant! I need advice please <3 #helpneeded #SweetheartPlant #Philodendron

What other plant parents say
I started out with three cuttings of one leaf each mid august 2021 and I now have 20+ leaves. This plant has thrived with ~65% humidity, grow lights, and an inch of spagnum moss on top of the soil. Overall a very easy plant to care for and quick to propagate
