About Aphrodite's Phalaenopsis
Phalaenopsis orchids get their name from the Greek 'phalaina' meaning moth, as their flowers are thought to resemble moth or butterfly wings! 🦋 Once their flowers have blossomed, they will eventually die but the plant will live one and continue to produce new flower spikes throughout its life. Orchid flowers evolved to attract pollinators and ther unique shape helps keep insects safe while collecting and dispersing pollen! 🐝

Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Aphrodite's Phalaenopsis in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Aphrodite's Phalaenopsis
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Aphrodite's Phalaenopsis after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Questions about fertilizer All my plants, besides 2, use a 1-2-2 organic liquid fertilizer for cactus and succulents. I have a small moth orchid that I'm trying to water culture currently. I have the miracle grow ready to use orchid spray, but idk how I feel about spraying it directly to exposed roots in water. Would the 1-2-2 work on the orchid? Or would that be a waste of my time? Or what have you all had success with?

Since this picture was taken my orchid has shed all its petals and is now brown idk what I did wrong but I was following the water reminders #PhalaenopsisOrchid

What type of orchidee is it? Greg doesn't recognized this type? Is it a normal one or a specific/special type of orchid? #help #orchidlovers #newplants

Why is my orchid having Yellowing leaves?

Healthy roots? Do these orchid roots look healthy? I trimmed the ones that were paper thin or had turned black. Just wanted a second opinion in case I missed any. I plan to keep her in water, eventually with leca once she grows new healthy roots. I did spray the roots with peroxide after trimming as well.

My orchid is potted in bark only. And not doing well. Should I repot in soil? If so, what kind? #PhalaenopsisOrchid

1,2 or 3? I was asked to rescue this orchid, but it appears to have 3 areas. I've never seen this before and want to provide the best results because it's not mine. Help, please! #PhalaenopsisOrchid

Just wanted to share something i've discovered and can confirm works- I've had this moth orchid for over 4 years, and it stopped blooming after 2, the flowers just dropped and never reappeared. Then i noticed the leaves becoming really really sad, like they were soft, droopy and just very wrinkly. (Obviously i had been forgetting to water it too often...) I was mourning over whether i should give up on it or try and fight for it- and im happy i choose the later. I came across a video on, instagram i think, where the lady also had a orchid who just stopped blooming and what she first cut off the steams where the blooms had fallen off from and what she then did was literally taking a vase, filling it with water before setting the orchid inside it to continue its life in a bath. And suprise suprise it bounced back and bloomed!! Of course i tried this and yes it worked wonders! My orchids leaves have returned plump and shiny, along with beautiful new flowers.

Orchid Advice #HappyPlants Hello Greggers. This is my much neglected orchid, La Blanquita, and she’s not looking so great. However, I just noticed the very beginnings of a tiny flower stalk. My question is: what can do at this stage to help improve the health of my orchid? I had been planning to repot her, but I don’t want to disturb the bloom stalk. Any advice is welcomed. Thanks!!!! #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #PlantAddict #NewGrowth #OrchidLovers #FloweringPlants #planthelp

What other plant parents say
Avoid listening to watering instructions that recommend ice cubes! They can shock the roots and generally don’t do a good job of providing water. Taking my orchid to my kitchen sink and using the sprayer to throughly soak the bark has worked great for me. Greg’s recommended watering cycle has worked pretty much perfectly for me, so listening to us could be beneficial, though be wary if overwatering regardless. Blooms don’t last forever, so expect a dormancy stage where your orchid may do nothing for a couple months. Highly recommend this plant.
