Our Group Head of External Relations, Todd Clewett, and Senior Manager of International Government Relations, Jorge Andrés Rincón Romero, co-chaired a Newmont-sponsored Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) roundtable last week, where several U.S. companies gained insights from the Honorable Geoffrey Pyatt, Assistant Secretary for Energy Resources, U.S. Department of State. 🎓After spending the past decade growing her career at our Lihir operation in Papua New Guinea, Newmont’s Mathilda Lusan recently celebrated a professional milestone – graduating with her Bachelor of Business Management from Divine Word University. When reflecting on this accomplishment, Mathilda highlighted how expanding her education will benefit her work: “This achievement is important to me and my family and community for many reasons. Deepening our understanding of Indigenous peoples and building partnerships through open and respectful engagement is a top priority at Newmont. In support of this, we recently sponsored the seventh annual First Nations Major Projects Coalition conference in Toronto, Canada, bringing together 1,500+ Indigenous, government, finance and industry leaders to explore this year’s theme: Indigenous Consent – Our Collective Advantage.
