As guests enter your hotel, they make an initial assessment of the property as a whole. As we are all aware of, people immediately judge the quality of a hotel experience based on the lobby’s ambiance and overall look. The guests’ first impression sets the tone for the entire stay and maybe one of the main reasons why they will book (or not) or recommend your hotel brand to friends and families.

Simple Changes to Enhance Your Hotel Lobby

If you’re new in the hospitality business, the hotel lobby must create a striking first impression, and make the guests feel comfortable and welcome. As an initial guide, below are five simple design considerations that you can use to enhance your hotel lobby:

1 Hotel lobbies are no longer a transition space between the entrance and the guests’ rooms. In fact, most hotels are now using this area for entertainment and relaxation. By pushing back the check-in counters along to the edges of the space, you can utilize a good area to add a variety of seating areas that can be used by both individuals and groups to generate quality social interactive experiences.

2 Creating different zones in hotel lobbies are now a new trend in the industry. For instance, placing semi-circles of couches around coffee tables for groups, using high-back seats around small tables with accessible power supply or internet connectivity for individuals who want to work within the hotel lobby premises. Providing different types of settings also improves the variety of services in your hotel.

3 Let’s go digital. Guests need information about the overall area of your hotel. By adding digital screens in key sections of the lobby, guest may be informed of hotel amenities locations and how to get there such as spas, gyms, pools, restaurants, decks, and entertainment areas. You can also display the upcoming hotel events, weather forecasts and outdoor conditions, entertainment content as well as the local map in the digital screen of your hotel lobby.

4 In terms of food options and refreshments, your hotel lobby needs to have the following points:
– Foodservice stations such as deli, cafe, or bar options
– Simple treats like cookies, candies or gift certificates at the front deck
– A complimentary water station with at least two kinds of ice or fruit-infused waters.
– Who doesn’t like coffee? Coffee or tea counter with clean mugs or to-go cups.

5 Hotel lobbies can also be used to boost your guests’ entertainment experience. Think about your target demographic frequently staying at your hotel and what type of entertainment they might want to experience. Local art displays, gallery of interesting artifacts, soft solo instrumentals, or live music from full bands, as well as interactive games where guests are allowed to play, are some examples of entertainment options you can apply in your hotel lobby.

The design of your hotel lobby could be a deciding factor for guest satisfaction even before they stay at your hotel. By considering simple upgrades to layout or ambiance, one can have a more confident atmorphere in terms of first impressions.
