Yucca filifera, commonly known as the "Giant Yucca" or "Mexican Tree Yucca," is a species of yucca native to Mexico. It belongs to the family Agavaceae. This yucca species is notable for its impressive size, with mature specimens often reaching heights of up to 30 feet (9 meters) or more.

Here are some key characteristics of Yucca filifera:

Size: It is one of the largest species of yucca, with tall, stout trunks that can grow up to 30 feet (9 meters) tall and 3 feet (1 meter) in diameter.

Leaves: The leaves of Yucca filifera are stiff, narrow, and sword-shaped, often growing up to 3 feet (1 meter) long. They are typically bluish-green in color and have curly white filaments along the edges, which give the species its name "filifera," meaning "thread-bearing."

Flowers: In late spring to early summer, Yucca filifera produces tall spikes of creamy-white flowers. The flowers are bell-shaped and pendulous, and they can be quite fragrant, especially in the evening, attracting pollinators such as moths and bats.

Fruit: After flowering, Yucca filifera produces large, fleshy, greenish-brown fruit capsules that contain numerous black seeds.

Habitat: This species is native to arid regions of northeastern Mexico, where it grows in rocky hillsides, desert plains, and scrubland.

Cultural significance: Yucca filifera has cultural significance among indigenous peoples of Mexico, who have traditionally used various parts of the plant for food, fiber, and medicinal purposes.
