Miltonia spectabilis var. moreliana

SGJ7_228

This medium sized orchid and an easy grower.

The flowers are maroon or dark purple in colour, up to 3 1/2 inches and have a pleasant fragrance of black liquorice.

These are nice multi-growth plants.

They grow best in partial shade and intermediate temperatures.

The best of the spectabilis with superb, extra large size deep grape-purple flowers.

The plant has an idiosyncratic growth habit. The internodes (i.e., the length of stem between the pseudo bulbs) are very long, giving the plant a sprawling habit best accommodated by a wide shallow basket.

The leaves and stems are an almost alarmingly vivid shade of yellow-green, a color normally associated with poor culture. This is the normal leaf color for Miltonia spectabilis.
