VACUUM PACKED

WE SURE THAT COUPLING IS ONLY BETWEEN TWO PEOPLE?
Eleonora cheated on her husband with a younger man. Her therapist, meanwhile, has announced that, after ten years, Eleonora is ready to go on with her life, therapy-free. Eleonora is in shock. She is left to deal with herself and her emotions, alone. Emotions that live together - not always peacefully - in her head, emotions that don't necessarily agree on just how she should deal with this delicate time in her life, emotions that definitely can't (and won't) set Eleonora "free", no matter what her therapist thinks.
It's at this point that her emotions materialize in flesh and blood, taking Eleonora hostage in her own apartment. Guilt Complex is the leader of the group, and tries to control the group dynamic, having done so since Eleonora was a young girl. Conscience, which Eleonora has relegated to bit player status, has, in her solitude, become a kind of drunken ex-diva, incapable of giving good advice. Sex is handicapped, and Love is matronly -and Sicilian! Who among them is right? And will Eleanora manage to keep them at bay, while keeping it together?

Director Statement

Vacuum Packed is a short film by, with, and about women.
We meet Eleonora, a typical working woman with a family, in the middle of the night, during a profound emotional crisis. Her therapist has just announced that, after ten years, she is finished: Eleanora can finally "stand on her own two feet". But Eleonora is in shock - her security blanket is gone! - and she knows full well that, ten years in, the tyranny of her emotions has (probably) not changed a whit. This is it. Either change, or go on making the same mistakes. It is in this delicate moment that her deepest emotions come to the surface. Will she manage to find a balance between her "inner voices", or will she remain enslaved within their bickering?
I am interested in describing femininity from within, with subtle irony, with great empathy, without judgement, and without taking things too seriously. We women are brilliant at arguing with ourselves, constantly toggling between logical thoughts and profound sentiments, sudden compulsions and unforeseen reactions. We laugh at ourselves, we horrify ourselves, we commiserate with ourselves, we make fun of ourselves, and when we are finally fed up with that dynamic or that thought or that sensation, we abandon it for something else. We don't really make peace, we rather make tiny truces with our deepest feelings.
