Taika Waititi has shown he’s a man of many talents by writing, directing, and even starring in his movies several times. This time the Jojo Rabbit star is showing off his talents in Next Goal Wins, a story about the infamously terrible American Samoa soccer team, who lost a FIFA match 31-0 in 2001. He has both written and directed the movie and is also portraying an American Samoan Priest in the comedy-drama.

Taika Waititi Has Given an Underwhelming Update on His Star Wars Project

With over 11 live-action feature films and six live-action TV shows, Star Wars fans are blessed with plenty of drama that revolves before and after the events of the first George Lucas-directed film, Star Wars (Episode IV – A New Hope). Interestingly, Waititi has teased fans by suggesting his addition to the franchise will be different and might annoy some of them.

“It will be … dramatic pause… a Taika Waititi film. It’s gonna p-ss people off,” he said (via Variety).

However, even to get irked by his work, these people will have to wait a long time as Waititi is still working on completing other scripts. He told Entertainment Tonight:

“At the moment, I’m still developing something with them. Like me, [Lucasfilm] have a lot of projects going on. I think they’re gonna push it until I finish these other projects. I’ve got about four other scripts that I’m trying to finish. My thing is I want to take my time with that and get it right. I don’t want to rush this movie.”

Well, at least now we know that Waititi’s Star Wars is not in danger of being dumped and instead is in active development. Better late than never!
