Daniel Craig: Bond movie would only be done for money

As the release date for Spectre draws near, speculation continues over who will play 007 next. But one person who doesn’t seem all that concerned with the outcome of that search? Daniel Craig, who will play the character for a fourth time in the new film.

“I haven’t given it any thought,” Craig said in an interview with Britain’s Time Out about whether he’d return. “For at least a year or two, I just don’t want to think about it. I don’t know what the next step is. I’ve no idea. Not because I’m trying to be cagey. Who the f— knows? At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anybody about anything. If I did another Bond movie, it would only be for the money.”

When asked about doing another James Bond movie, Craig said he couldn’t even fathom it. “I’d rather break this glass and slash my wrists. No, not at the moment. Not at all. That’s fine. I’m over it at the moment. We’re done. All I want to do is move on.”

Those comments echo similar ones made by Craig in interview with EW. “I can’t give you an honest answer at this point,” Craig said about the prospect of another Bond outing. “It’s not that I’m trying to play hard to get. I’ve just given it no thought whatsoever.”

“This movie has taken up two years of my life. And I just need a break,” Craig continued. “I need to get back to normal life. I need to reintroduce myself to my family who are not best pleased with me. The idea of planning ahead — I’m not trying to be coy. People want an answer and I don’t have one.”
