(Azorella ruizii)
Laretia is a monotypic genus of herbaceous plant belonging to the family Apiaceae. The only species: Laretia acaulis, is native to Chile and Argentina. They are perennial grasses of very slow growth, turfgrass. It has simple bellows up to 2.5 cm long that are resinous and aromatic. The mariellu flowers with 5 petals, reach a size of 4 cm. The fruit, 1 cm long, are two dry schizocarps. Laretia acaulis, is used as a medicinal plant. Laretia acaulis was described by (Cav.) Gillies & Hook. and published in Botanical Miscellany 1: 329. 1830.
