Anthony Antonacci
Northern Illinois '09
1st Season

Anthony Antonacci joins the Davidson football coaching staff as the defensive line coach.

Antonacci arrives at Davidson after two seasons at Illinois.

"We are excited to welcome Anthony and his wife Sam to Davidson College," said Nichols, who is entering his second season as Davidson's head football coach. "Anthony brings an ability to relate and teach student-athletes. He has experience in our defensive scheme and will work hard to develop our front. His background in recruiting will also benefit our program as we work to bring high caliber student-athletes to Davidson."

Last season, he served as a defensive graduate assistant, where he assisted outside linebackers coach Al Seamonson, working primarily with the LEO (linebacker/end option) position. His game day responsibilities included defensive substitutions and defensive signal calling.

"I'm really excited to join the Davidson staff," said Antonacci. "I worked with Coach Nichols and Coach Creamer before at Illinois, so it was an easy decision to make knowing what quality people they are. I know Davidson has very elite academic and athletic standards, and I look forward to guiding our players to achieve them."

Antonacci was the team's recruiting/operations graduate assistant in his first season at Illinois in 2012.

Prior to joining the Fighting Illini staff, Antonacci served as defensive line and strength and conditioning coach at Lake Park High School in Roselle, Ill., in the 2011 season. He helped mentor three All-Upstate Eight Conference selections that season and contributed to a three-win turnaround from the previous year.

Before his season at Lake Park, Antonacci was the defensive line coach at North Central College in 2010, helping the Cardinals to a third-place finish in the nation in total defense. He guided Valente Garza to D3Football.com third-team All-America honors, who helped the Cardinals lead the CCIW and rank fifth nationally in sacks.

A 2009 magna cum laude graduate of Northern Illinois, Antonacci played defensive line for three seasons before moving to fullback in 2008. He helped the Huskies to appearances in the 2006 Poinsettia Bowl and the 2008 Independence Bowl.

Antonacci and his wife, Samantha, were married in July 2013.
