Perennial herbaceous species with a woody base, growing up to 50 cm high with inflorescences located above the terminal leaves (Rivero-Guerra,2020).

Critically endangered

Distribution

Distribution: Restricted to Cerro Azul and Sierra Negra volcanoes on Isabela Island. Its population has declined severely due to pressure from introduced plants and herbivores.
