A low perennial creeper with fleshy grey-green leaves. The small star-shaped flowers are pink.
Often forms dense carpets over rocky and sandy terrain and takes on an orange-red color during the cool season. The flowers are often visited by the Galápagos carpenter bee (McMullen 1999).
