Arey Ksat Bridge Construction Set to Commence in Early 2025, Signaling Major Infrastructure Milestone

The commencement of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Bridge Project is anticipated to take place at the genesis of 2025. Cementing the commitment to this significant infrastructure development within Cambodia, a meeting was held on 21 February 2024.

HE Peng Ponea, the country’s Minister of Public Works and Transport, was joined by HE Park Jung-wook, the esteemed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia. The purpose of this gathering was to strengthen the ties between the two nations and to reaffirm their dedication to the project, which promises to enhance connectivity and economic growth within the country.

The pivotal cross-strait connective structure, also known as the Arey Ksat Bridge, charts a scenic course from the bustling Old Market to Chroy Changvar, clinching at Changvar-Arey Ksat. A testament to the intercontinental camaraderie and a hallmark of Korea’s pledge to drive Cambodia’s architectural aspirations, this bridge is an engineering harbinger.

The bridge’s financing, a substantial loan amounting to US$245,909,000 secured by Korea on 9 December 2022, symbolizes the Republic of Korea’s belief in potential-rich Cambodia. (Read more)

Beyond the bridge, a grand inventory of 174 priority projects encompassing a staggering US$36.6 billion, as outlined in the Comprehensive Master Plan on the Cambodian Transit and Logistics System spanning 2023-2033, awaits Korea’s analytical consideration for investment feasibility as per requested by  HE Peng Ponea.

As we stand on the cusp of this grand architectural endeavor, the Bridge emerges not just as a physical conduit enhancing the mobility of Cambodian citizens and goods, but as an emblematic gesture of global unity and economic foresight.
