Description

Family: Hypoxidaceae Local name(Telugu) Nela tadi Distribution: Common in undergrowth of forests in rock crevices; Found in tropical Asia and Australia. Perennial herb with tuberous root stock, Radicle leaves 5-15x 1cm, lanceolate, plicate vilous, Flowers 1 cm acrossbright yellow on 3-5cm racemes, scape is hidden in leaf sheaths; perianth 6, stamens 6, anthers sagittate, ovary 3 celled, inferior, stigmas 3, fruit c capsule.

Root is pungent and used as remedy for filarial swellings.
