Getting To Know Daniel Bruce

Fans of the Charlotte 49ers know all about the success the men's soccer program has found on the field over the years. What they might not know is the more personal side of each student-athlete. To get to know each of our men's soccer players better, we interviewed each of them to find out a little bit about their time at Charlotte.

First up redshirt junior forward Daniel Bruce who played an integral role in helping the 49ers capture the Conference USA regular-season title and earn a national seed to the NCAA Tournament last season, In 2016, he scored six goals including game-winning goals against Rutgers and #3 Clemson.

What is your major and why did you choose that major?  My major is Communications. I chose that because I love media and being involved with people.
What is on your pre-game music playlist? I listen to a lot of worship music, old band stuff as well.
What is it like playing home games at Transamerica Field? I love playing at home, the atmosphere is great.
What are you doing when you aren't playing soccer? Hanging out with the guys on the team. I love to spend time at church and I love being around church people.
If you could have dinner with three famous people, who would they be? Jesus, Post Malone, Peter Griffin.
What has been your favorite memory as a Niner?  Beating Clemson on the road last season and scoring the game winner.
Who has been the most influential person in your soccer career and why? Definitely my father. He has always been there for me. He has pushed me and supported me at every game, home or away.  If he is at home (in England), he will stay up to two in the morning because of the time difference and watch.
Coach Langan has talked about the Charlotte Way, what does that mean to you?  To me it means win, lose, or draw, you can come off the field knowing you gave it everything you could. It also means understanding the importance of responsibility as an individual.
As a team, what are your goals this season? Obviously, as a team, we want to win the Conference USA Tournament and do well in the NCAA Tournament.
