Gwlyddyn Mair y Gors

An attractive mat-forming perennial of wet banks, ditches, fens, dune slacks and marshy grasslands. Generally a local species in Britain. It produces tightly clustered pink flowers which open widely in sunshine and can form spectacular displays along the roadside drainage ditches in the open areas of plantations where it often grows with species like Ivy-leaved Bellflower (Wahlenbergia hederacea) and Lesser Skullcap (Scutellaria minor).

A delicate creeping perennial plant with a profusion of star-shaped flowers in summer. Found naturally in boggy areas or very shallow water, it can be grown at the edges of a pond or in a bog garden.

Height: up to 15cm

Flowers: June to August

Colour: Lilac, pink
