SUMMARY
Plant climbing to 1-2 m above ground; anchor roots 2-6 cm, twisted at the extremity of the stem that bears the leaves and inflorescences; stem slender, 1-2 m [sic] thick when dry, naked, except at the extremity where it becomes thick, ca. 5 mm when dry, bearing the leaves and inflorescences; Internodes long, 8-12 cm. LEAVES: Petiole less than 1/5-1/3 and up to 2/3 blade length, 3-10.5 (-20.5) cm long; blade14.5-23.5 (-31) x 4.5-7 (-10) cm, oblong-lanceolate, base truncate or shortly open-cordate, apex ± long-acuminate oblique, acumen 1-2.5 cm; primary veins 6-7 pairs, slightly prominent; translucent dashes and curcular excressences absent. INFLORESCENCES terminal, 1-2, bracts caducous; peduncles shorter than the petioles, 2-4.5 (-9.5) cm, spathe acute at apex, or slightly mucronate, 4-5.5 (-8.5) cm, flowers white-cream, female zone 1/5-¼ the length of the male zone; stigma globose, not striolate. INFRUCTESCENCE: Berries globose, 8-10 mm in diam., red.
