Long etymology:
Jacques Barrelier spent 23 years in Rome where he established a botanic garden at the Saint-Xyste convent. He made in excess of 300 detailed copper engravings of plants discovered on his travels through southern Europe. These he described in his book Mundi Hortus Botanicus. However this project was destroyed after Barrelier died of asthma and a fire destroyed all his notes. The director of Jadin des Plantes in Paris posthumously published his copper plates that survived the fire as Hispaniam et Italiam observata. Linnaeus misspelled his name.
