Identifying Characteristics

Ascending to erect grass with creeping rhizomes. Leaf blades to 50 cm long and 8 mm wide. Inflorescence an open panicle to 50 cm long. Spikelets 5-12 flowered. Flowers October-January.

Distinctive Features

The lower bract enclosing the grass flower (lemma) is more than 5.5 mm long.
