Lot #112668

This Triumph Spitfire is powered by a modified 3.5-liter Rover V8 paired with a five-speed manual transmission and is finished in green over black vinyl upholstery. The body is that of a 1964 Spitfire, the engine and transmission are said to have been sourced from a 1980 Rover SD1, chassis components are from a 1969 Triumph GT6, and the differential and half-shafts came from a second-generation Mazda RX-7. Additional equipment is reported to include an Offenhauser intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, an Isky camshaft, Kirk Racing headers, dual electric fans, and Mallory electronic ignition components as well as an aftermarket exhaust, an electric fuel pump, Stewart-Warner gauges, and a Kenwood CD stereo. The car was modified under prior ownership beginning around 2001, and the seller acquired it in 2018. This modified Spitfire is now offered at no reserve with a removed front bumper, service information, component manuals, and a California title in the seller’s name that describes the car as a 1964 Triumph two-door.

The body was refinished in green under previous ownership and has a bright split rear bumper and trim as well as black front bumperettes. Additional exterior equipment includes a 1969 GT6 hood, side-exit dual exhaust, dual fender-mounted chrome mirrors, and a roll bar. Paint and body imperfections are shown up close in the photo gallery below.

Silver-colored 13″ GT6 wheels are mounted with front 175/70 Nankang CX-668 and rear 205/60 Federal Formoza FD1 tires, and an older Goodyear spare on a worn wheel is located in the trunk. The seller states that the suspension and the brakes are 1969 GT6 parts, and the wheels have been refinished and the rear wheels widened by one inch.

The 3.5-liter V8 is said to have been sourced from a 1980 Rover SD1 and installed prior to 2013. Header work was reportedly completed by Dave’s Machine Shop in Newark, California, and other modifications include an Offenhauser intake manifold, an Isky camshaft, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Kirk Racing Products headers, Mallory electronic ignition components, and a re-cored radiator with dual electric fans. An oil change was completed and an electric fuel pump was added in May 2023.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a five-speed manual transmission that is said to have been sourced from a 1980 Rover SD1, and the frame is from a 1969 GT6. The seller notes that the differential and rebuilt half-shafts were sourced from a second-generation Mazda RX-7. The exhaust system was replaced during previous ownership. Corrosion is visible on underside components.
