Identifying Features

Moneyworts have rounded leaves arranged in opposing pairs, with cup-shaped bright yellow flowers. The flower is around 1 inch, with five petals that are paired along the trailing vine.

Habitat & Range

Moneywort can be found in moist or wet areas. Though native to Europe, it has been introduced to North America and can be found throughout parts of Canada and the US.

Behavior

In optimal growing conditions, moneyworts can form large colonies. They are an aggressive species and can kill of other species of ground plants by profusely growing and thriving in the area.

Life Cycle

Moneyworts are a rapidly growing plant that reproduces through stems that root where leaf nodes touch the ground. The plant flowers from June-August, with the seeds ripening around late summer.
