Clearfin Lionfish

Pterois radiata

Long white pectoral fin spines, largely free-standing. White horizontal line on the tail base.

Size : 24 cm

Habitat : In lagoons and outreefs, 1-25 m. Alone or in small groups. Usually inactive during the day and protected in caves and overhangs, occasionally along with P. antennata. Predominantly hunts shrimps and crabs at night.

Distribution : Red Sea and East Africa to SW Japan, Micronesia, New Caledonia and Society Islands.
