Amazing Plants in an Amazing Desert!
The different types of plants have different features to survive in the desert. But they all have adapted so that they don't need that much water.
The Convolvulus Buschiricus (Convolvulaceae) has hairy stems that grow up to 1m tall. The petals grow to 2.5 cm wide. They are recognized by their funnel shaped, symmetrical corolla. Some of these species can climb over more valuable plants but some are liked for their flowers. They are mostly white or pink. Some of the species that are like it that you may know are the morning glory (showy plant) and the bindweed (climbing plant).

The Teucrium Oliverianum grows up to 40cm. They are found all over the world but are most common in the Mediterranean climates. They grow on rocky runnels that are covered with a thin layer of sand. The name is believed to come from King Teucer of Troy. This flower is missing the upper lip of the corolla. The Teucrium are rich in essential oils and some species have cooking and/or medical value.

The Datura Innaxia is a trumpet shaped flower. It's leaves are not grazed so it is poisonous it grows up to 60cm with the petals 4cm wide. The flower buds of this plant tend to droop. They are known as 'Thorn apple' which is 3cm in diameter. It has spines that are 3 - 10mm. Theses are it's spiny fruit. When the thorn apple is ripe it opens up into 4 parts and releases little black or pale brown seeds.
