More info

S. njassae spends most of the day hiding among rocks or foraging on the tank bottom. However, during the night, this catfish becomes active and can sometimes be seen swimming along the tank walls and even upside down along the water's surface.

Behavior Synodontis njassae is generally a peaceful catfish, preferring to hide in caves and against rocks in African cichlid tanks. It only ventures out occasionally during the day to feed. While it is mostly a peaceful addition to the aquarium, it can become territorial towards its own species and other tank mates if provoked enough. However, despite its large size, heavily armored skull, and serrated tips on its pectoral and dorsal fins, S. njassae rarely causes significant harm to other tank mates.
