Coronilla scorpioides

1. Coronilla scorpioides (L.) Koch (S-Eur.) – A rare and ephemeral alien, mostly associated with grain and wool. Recorded between 1892 and 1921 as a wool alien in the valley of river Vesdre. Occasionally seen elsewhere in widely scattered locations (Andrimont, Liège, Oostende, Virton, Vorst, etc.) but much decreasing since the 1950’s. In the past decades recorded from grain waste in Andrimont in 1955 and 1959, on an unloading quay in Turnhout in 1975 (probably also as a grain alien) and on a demolition site of a former grain mill in Merksem (Antwerpen) in 2000. Finally, recorded near a grain storage in the Antwerp port area in 2014 and 2016.

Coronilla scorpioides is mostly found on waste land, often in port areas or near railway yards.
