Found in northern and western Madagascar among calcareous rocks in mossy cracks in as a small sized, cool to warm growing terrestrial with clustered, ovoid, brownish-violet psedobulbs carrying 2, apical, prostrate, ovate to elliptic-ovate, acuminate, margins undulate, dark purplish black, motttled with pale rose leaves that blooms in the fall on an erect, racemose to sparsely branched, to 22" [55 cm] long, laxly many flowered inflorescence with triangular, acuminate floral bracts.
