Common Name The Crawling Maxillaria [refers to the plant habit]

Found in Costa Rica and Panama in mossy forests at elevations of 1000 to 1200 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte from wet montane forests with slender, elongate, often branching stems enveloped by papery, tubular sheaths and giving rise to two ranked, distant to terminal, imbricating leaf bases carrying 3 to 5, coriaceous, elliptic-lanceolate, acute, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate, base leaves that blooms on usually several, axillary, .6 to .8" [1.5 to 2 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence with small flowers.
