Found in Peru without collection data as a small sized, caespitose epiphyte with erect, stout ramicauls enveloped by a 2 to 3 loose, tubular sheaths and carrying a single, apical, erect, thickly coriaceous, linear-elliptic, subacute to obtuse, narrowly cuneate below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, arising from low on the ramicaul, subtended by a bract near the base, strong, triquetrous, 10" [25 cm] long, subcongested, successively few flowered inflorescence with tubular, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts and holding the flower above the leaf.

"Similar to M mezae but differs in the lip and petals, also similar to M cinnomonea with equally large flowers but its flowers are brown to yellow externally and dotted with brown internally and produced simultaneously in a few flowered raceme. M royi and M mezae have a slowly successive raceme of long-tailed pale yellow green fkiwers with the sepals minutely dotted in purple." Luer 2006
