Common Name The Heart-Shaped Lip Malaxis

Found in Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil in deciduous forests at elevations around 200 meters as a small sized, warm growing, ombrophilous terrestrial with an inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to an ovoid pseudobulb enveloped by lanceolate sheaths and carrying oblong-lanceolate, concolor green adaxially, discolor green abaxially, acuminate, pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a naked, 13.6" [34 cm] long, congested, many flowered inflorescence holding the flowers in an apical corymb.

The new orchid is similar to M cipoensis but differs in the oblong-lanceoalte leaves, the longer flower stem, the congested flowers arranged in a corymb and a wider, shorter, cordate, apiculate lip.
