Common Name The Yellow Flowered Cyrtochilum

Flower Size .4" [1 cm]

Found in Loja and Zamora Chinchip Ecuador and northern Peru in high elevation scrub forests in low dense shrubs in wet areas at elevations of 2700 to 3150 meters as a medium sized, cold growing terrestrial or epiphyte with a stiff, bracteate, creeping rhizome giving rise to caespitose to distant, ovoid, slightly ancipitous pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 6 to 8 distichous, uppermost foliaceous sheaths and carrying 1 to 2, apcial, conduplicate, narrowly obovate to elliptic, acute to acuminate leaves that blooms in the late fall through later summer on an axillary, from the uppermost sheaths, erect, weakly fractiflex, few flowered racemes to loosely paniculate, few branched, distant, 2 to 12 flowered, apically fractiflex, several to many flowered inflorescence with scale-like adpressed bracts and carrying slightly campanulate flowers.

It grows together with C vimilae but C anthoxanthum has a longer and more visible callus on the lip and has additional, projecting angles [or lobes] flanking the stigmatic surface.
