Shinnersia rivularis

Mexican Oak

Mexican oak is a pretty plant that will grow very well. It does tend to need a lot of upkeep, as it tends to want to grow out of the water, or at least at the surface. Upper leaves get much larger than the lower as the plant reaches the surface of the water and the leaves get more red in them. It's also the upper leaves and those that grow out of the tank that have the "oak" leaf look. This plant needs regular trimming to keep it looking nice in the aquarium.
