Lectotypus M. nodiflorum L., typus conserv. ≡ Gasoul nodiflorum (L.) Rothmaler Etym incorrectly from Gk mesembria (not mesembrya) mid-day, anthemon, flower, referring to the flowers which open during midday; or correctly from Gk mes-, middle, embryo, embryo or ovule, anthemon, flower, referring to the free axile placentation of the flower = Gynicidia Necker 1790: 81 nomen invalid.
