Pseudobulbs flask-shaped, dark green, to 4cm in height. Leaves elliptic, up to 20cm long. Flowers on short stems, 7-10cm across, in the wild ranging from pale to orange-yellow, rarely white, the lip bearing five to seven entire lamellae and brown or crimson blotches, spring. Usually represented in cultivation by a lemon-yellow form. China (Yunnan) and north-east Burma, in forests at 1700-1900m, usually on mossy rocks. Best kept just frost-free and dry in winter. When in leaf, water only when the compost begins to dry out. [Pl.360].
