Similar to P. alpestris but with leaves having a silvery-grey suedelike texture that is almost white in certain lights. The strongly inflated fruits can sometimes exceed 1.2cm long. P.d. var. lyrata has lyrate leaves, the lower halves being toothed or lobed and fruits 1.5-2cm long. Washington State to Montana and Idaho on sagebrush slopes and open mountain woodland.
